Ask anyone who’s transitioned from the military what they miss the most and they’ll likely list camaraderie. Booz Allen often helps to fill that void for our veteran employees—which is one reason Military Times again named us as one their ‘Best for Vets.’
This year the firm placed third out of 82 companies on the publication’s list of employers. The rankings are based on an extensive survey, which includes more than 90 questions, and explores company culture, recruiting policies, and reservist accommodations. Not all companies that responded to the survey made the cut.
“If veterans can come to an organization in the civilian workforce that aligns with the military’s core values, it’s what makes them happy with their new workplace,” said Lead Associate and Recruiter George Bernloehr, who leads our Veteran Recruiting Center of Excellence—the heart of which is engagement, hiring, and advocacy for transitioning military. “When we focus our hiring efforts on finding the best and the brightest, it makes perfect sense to tap into the military—to pull this talent in to the variety of roles we have open.”
The numbers speak for themselves. More than 30 percent of our employees are veterans. Additionally, during our last fiscal year 32.5 percent of new employees were military talent.
Principal and former Marine Corps Cobra pilot Kurt Scherer perhaps sums it up best. “I think it’s the focus on people, the leadership, the ability to work hard at a task, the privilege of serving something larger than yourself.”
