Fresh out of college, Maria Saviano was trying to figure out what to do with her life. Her first job was exciting, but it had its drawbacks. “There was no growth potential. I wanted to spread my wings and do something different,” she remembers.
Enter Booz Allen.
Maria joined us as an analyst, and 28 years later she’s still here, leading a team as a project manager in our Lexington, MA office.
Maria transformed her career from research and business to a more technical focus. “I’ve learned on the job and by managing smart technical people.” She’s witnessed plenty of changes at the company throughout the decades, but one thing hasn’t budged and never will: our technical opportunities.
“You’re in charge of your career here. You’re encouraged to seek out a mentor, especially if you have technical acumen and need guidance on certification or what’s needed in the client space and how to make it happen. We invest in our team by providing tuition assistance and making sure we all stay current on new technologies.”
The opportunities extend beyond advancing your career. “In Lexington, there are so many chances to help. We’re using technology to impact military missions and improve lives. My team works on a satellite communication project for the government. Our goal is to find ways to deliver timely information to warfighters on the ground.”
Maria also helps the Lexington office recruit for their rapidly growing team. “We’re hiring for all kinds of roles, from cloud computing engineers to software developers, project managers, and software architects.” The growth of the Lexington team, she says, is yet another opportunity. “We’re developing a new culture as we expand, creating the work environment we all want. People joining Lexington right now are getting to take part in building that environment,” Maria says.
