To most, speaking with 200-300 people each week seems mind-boggling—but it's a typical work week for Victoria Pich and her colleagues on Booz Allen’s military recruiting team.
To recruit the top talent coming out of the military, Victoria travels from her home base in Pittsburgh to veteran and transitioning military career fairs and military installations around the country. Her recruiting efforts, and those of her three counterparts who also travel and conduct outreach across the nation, are making a difference: the military recruiting team now has a pipeline of 4,000 veteran candidates.
“Veterans comprise one-third of our workforce,” explains Victoria. “Each member of the recruiting team is either a veteran or part of a military family and understands the transitioning process. We orient candidates to Booz Allen and our culture, guide them with networking and resume writing, and educate them on the work realities of the civilian world. Even if they don't come to Booz Allen, it's rewarding to help veterans—who have given us so much—move onto the next stage of their lives.”
Victoria and her team know hiring veterans is a win-win, as they possess the skill sets our clients need in the defense and national security markets around cyber, analytics, and defense subject-matter expertise. They also have an insider's understanding of the needs and challenges faced by our defense clients. “I believe veterans feel at home at Booz Allen. Our values mimic those of the military, so when veterans come to work here they get to carry on the mission of service, integrity, and courage,” says Victoria.
