Earlier this week, at the annual OpenStack Summit in Atlanta, RedHat announced the formation of its ManageIQ community. The announcement affirms that CloudForms will now be an open sourced tool under the name ManageIQ. The aim of the tool will be to bring together developers, service providers, system integrators and researchers to drive innovation and collaboration across the whole open cloud ecosystem. Here at Booz Allen Hamilton, we were excited and honored to be a part of their announcement; identified as one of the initiative’s first community partners.
From our perspective, we often see clients who are running disjointed, multi-cloud environments (some public, others private). This can limit insight, control, communications, knowledge sharing and, ultimately, thwart efficiencies. OpenStack, and now ManageIQ, helps to act as that “middle man,” putting in place the infrastructure needed to ensure deep integration across cloud environments, data centers, domains and processes. We’ve seen it work well for our clients and we believe that the open sourced ManageIQ community will only serve to further the adoption and awareness of OpenStack and RedHat.
Moving forward, we’ll help to support the community by contributing frameworks, architecture and code and share content that will help to advance integration and automation aspects of the platform with enhanced user interfaces.
Our partnership with RedHat began last year as part of a broader commitment to align ourselves with technology vendors, initiatives and programs that could offer a real and lasting value for our clients and help us, as a firm, pivot towards new growth opportunities.
