March 20, 2014
It’s not a national holiday, school vacation, or time-off from work, but here at Booz Allen Hamilton we recognize Analytics Week (March 24 – 28) as an opportunity to shine a light on one of our passions – data analytics. In today’s increasingly complex world, data – no matter its form, shape or size – is omnipresent. And every day we’re helping to guide organizations – across all industry sectors – to more effectively access and analyze data for strategic decision making. To us, this is worthy of a week’s celebration.
Stay tuned throughout the next week, as our team of Booz Allen subject matter experts will be blogging, tweeting, and participating in events; engaging with industry leaders, business professionals, technologists, students, educators and the non-profit world to initiate discussions around innovative, data-driven approaches to problem solving. We’ll be all over the country and we might just be coming to a city near you. Check out our travel plans…
- Boston is one of America’s oldest cities - famous for the Boston Tea Party, delicious baked beans, the World Series champion Boston Red Sox, and now it’s also home to the Big Data Analytics Unconference. Starting on March 24th, this weeklong event is wholly focused on strengthening the dialogue between big data and analytics practitioners. Its goal is to bring communities together for faster collaborative learning – something Booz Allen has long been committed to. We’ll have several experts in attendance for ongoing discussions and vice president Tim Andrews will present about health informatics analytics during a panel discussion.
- In Atlanta, Booz Allen is teaming up with CARE, Emory University's Rollins School of Public Health, and Revolution Analytics to host a competition for students, professionals, professors and interested parties. The challenge takes place on Friday, March 28th and requires groups to work together to ideate, structure and design a cloud-based solution to help end poverty; CARE’s ultimate goal.
- In celebration of the DC data community, Booz Allen has organized a Hadoop event on Monday evening, March 24th. Participants can network with peers and learn more about Hadoop security and the recently Introduced Hadoop 2.0 on Windows.
And…the BigConf arrives in the area on Friday, March 28th. Billed as an opportunity for discussion, networking and knowledge sharing for everyone working with monstrously big data in the Mid-Atlantic and beyond, Booz Allen has plans to join this group too! Specifically, Booz Allen’s Armen Kherlopian, Stephanie Rivera and Paul Yacci will lead the session Making a Difference with Data Science, presenting case studies where data science has been used to make a positive impact in public safety and health.
