A few weeks ago, we announced our strategic partnership with 1776, an incubator in downtown DC that serves as a global hub for startups tackling major challenges in education, energy, health care, government, and other critical industries. After the initial announcement, there were a lot of piqued ears and head tilts—seems like many think we’re an odd couple, albeit an interesting one. My personal favorite was this line from a Washington Business Journal article: “How could this be: a 100-year-old government consulting firm that's…investing its own money in the big ideas of the underfunded?”
OK, fair enough. If you want to know what this partnership is all about and how it really works, then join us next week to find out. We’ll be out and about in Washington, DC at two events:
The Festival is a week of events focused on transformative solutions to global challenges and innovators from around the world. It features the culmination of 1776’s Challenge Cup, a global competition of startups revolutionizing education, energy, health and smart cities.
Our Vice President of the firm’s Strategic Innovation Group, Karen Dahut, will participate on the Corporate Revolution panel on Tuesday, May 13 at IdeaSpace. She’ll discuss how corporations are driving innovation within their own organizations, as well as how corporations can partner with startups and entrepreneurs to bring disruptive solutions to global-scale client challenges.
Vice President of emerging technologies, Julie McPherson will be on at the Startup Government panel on Friday, May 16. She’ll talk about how government agencies can learn from startups.

FOSE
We’ll also be at FOSE, the biggest government IT conference there is. From May 13-15 from 10-4 p.m. at the DC Convention Center, Booz Allen and 1776 will host Incubator Alley in the exhibit hall. Stop by to meet the startups of 1776, the intrapraneurs of Booz Allen; and learn how startups and corporations can work together to bring products and services to government and commercial clients. You can’t miss it; we’ll be right next to FOSE Central.
Or, sit in on our Tuesday panel discussion: Meshing management consulting strategy and startup agility to deliver emerging technologies to governments and commercial organizations. This panel, moderated by Allie Burns, vice president of communications for Revolution and the Case Foundation, will feature a discussion among 1776, Booz Allen, Matthew Thompson, Fonder and COO of startup ID.me, and Jeff Collins from MedStar.
Hope to see you there!
