Booz Allen Hamilton’s (NYSE: BAH) Cyber University Program was named Outstanding Training Initiative of 2013 by Training magazine at an awards gala held last night in San Diego, California. Selected from among submissions by all 14 members of the Training Hall of Fame, the Cyber University program received the highest score from a panel made up Hall of Fame peers and the magazine’s editors.
Cyber University is an initiative that is designed to impact all areas of the firm’s business by providing both industry-recognized and internally created proprietary training and development opportunities for Booz Allen employees. The program offers an innovative approach to training delivery, including a focus on virtual and informal training, in order to support staff working with Cyber clients. Cyber University focuses on a multi-tiered model for content; leveraging internal development and industry partnerships with instructor-led training, core certifications, online learning, academic programs, functional resources, and experiential learning activities.
“Booz Allen is a firm known for providing the highest quality consulting expertise to our clients, and we are able to maintain this level of expertise as a result of the investments we make in our staff,” said Betty Thompson, Senior Vice President for People Services. “We are proud to be a member of the Training Hall of Fame, and particularly proud of this award from our peers because it recognizes that investments in the development of people is an investment in the business."
This year marks the first time Training magazine has required all members of the Hall of Fame to submit an Outstanding Training Initiative to be judged by each other and shared with Training's readers. Aside from ensuring Hall of Famers are not “resting on their laurels,” the competition provides an opportunity for the Learning & Development community to learn from the “best of the best” and see innovative solutions for challenges many face today.
"As the highest scoring Hall of Fame Outstanding Training Initiative submitted, Booz Allen Hamilton's Cyber University impressively addressed the need for a wide range of learning content across cyber security and technical capabilities and enabled programs to identify and utilize staff to their highest potential," said Training Editor-in-Chief Lorri Freifeld. "This drove both business success and retention of engaged staff. Through continuing education, industry-recognized certifications, and graduate-level academic programs delivered in a variety of innovative formats, Cyber University accommodates different needs and styles. And it continues to deliver trackable results as seen in the collected metrics on the courseware; job, behavioral, and business impact; and employee retention."
