Booz Allen’s Giving by the Numbers for 2021

Two years ago, mere weeks before the COVID-19 pandemic caused global lockdowns, Booz Allen employees and family members celebrated Martin Luther King Jr. Day in person through activities like painting Stuart Hobson Middle School in Washington, DC. Since then—online, around the world, and undaunted—employees have kept the vision of Dr. King and the firm’s passion for service alive through employee giving campaigns, volunteer opportunities, pro bono initiatives, and more.

Leading into 2021, Booz Allen relaunched its employee community engagement platform, Booz Allen Cares, which is now powered by the grants-management technology provider and community impact partner Benevity. The user-friendly platform helps employees engage with their communities and allows Booz Allen to track data related to corporate responsibility data, such as employee volunteer hours and charitable giving. Through Booz Allen Cares employees can discover opportunities to volunteer, provide in-kind services, and make financial contributions to IRS-recognized public charities or schools accredited by the National Center for Education Statistics.

In 2021, 2,278 employees donated $1.2 million through Booz Allen Cares, with the firm matching an estimated $864,000  (including the December 2021 employee giving campaign), and 634 employees have redeemed $169,500 in Impact Rewards, the firm’s “dollars for doers” program that can be donated to any approved nonprofits. Initiatives include:

• The AAPI Support Employee Giving Campaign, which raised money for Stop AAPI Hate, Asian Americans Advancing Justice, and other nonprofits dedicated to protecting the humanity and rights of the Asian American and Pacific Islander (AAPI) community. 
• The Booz Allen Foundation Giving Campaign to support inclusive pathways to STEM for underserved communities.
• The Afghanistan CARE Campaign, led by the firm’s Women’s Business Resource Group, to support women and girls impacted by the humanitarian crisis.

Booz Allen employees also serve the communities where they live and work through pro bono efforts, helping nonprofit partners solve some of their biggest challenges. In 2021, Booz Allen launched several projects with organizations including CARE USA, The Coalition for Nonprofit Housing and Economic Development, The Children’s Inn at NIH, and Thurgood Marshall College Fund.
