Today's business leaders understand the consequences of a cyber attack—from loss of trust with stakeholders to loss of revenue on the bottom line.

In response, companies around the globe are investing human and financial resources into cyber security solutions with hopes of protecting their businesses from risk. Yet hardly a week goes by without another breach, loss of customer data, or theft of intellectual property. Despite all the activity, real cyber security has proven elusive.

Part of the reason for this failure is the way that many organizations approach cyber, with separate teams dedicated to IT, digital systems, and security. This lack of organizational integration paired with over-purchase of vendor products and tools prevents real understanding of the cyber landscape. What’s more, the amount of information pulled from various systems leads to information overload in which analysts drown in data without clear insight into what information is valuable and actionable. The legacy cyber approach and workforce are not equipped to deal with such a rapidly changing threat landscape.
