To stay ahead of our enemies and global threat actors, today’s warfighters need new capabilities at a much greater speed than allowed by the current major systems acquisition lifecycle. Currently, it can take years to move new capabilities from concept to implementation—costing valuable time and money.
To succeed, the Department of Defense (DoD) needs to employ accelerated processes to respond to urgent operational needs to mitigate current threats, offset future threats, and leverage advances in technology that will enable the warfighter to maintain operational and technological superiority.
First, new solutions need to be field tested to ensure they work as anticipated, and then either accelerated to meet a capability gap, or “killed” before resources are wasted. Second, the approval process needs to be streamlined to move the acquisition life cycle forward. Defense clients need a partner with acquisition experts, engineers, operational experts, and analytics to shorten the timeline.
Booz Allen has the low rate production and prototyping facilities to support engineering requirements analysis, design, build, and testing. In addition, our acquisition expertise combined with our functional teams can accelerate the acquisition schedule for clients. Our approach helps accelerate capabilities to the warfighter through prototyping, experimentation, and accelerated acquisition processes.
